to be set at the highest possible scan quality for example if your image is 4” x 6” scan your image at
300 to 400 dpi and save it as a jpg file. Very important: for the best scan be sure your scan surface

Taking Baby Photo Tips
If we receive a blurry, grainy or dark photograph of your baby, then your announcement will be blurry,
grainy, or dark. So here are some tips on how to take the best photograph of your child.
|
Take lots of pictures!
Sometimes you can take a whole roll of film to get one great photo. If that is what it
takes then just do it. It will be worth the effort when you receive your baby’s birth
announcement.
Best time to take the photo
The best time to take photographs of your new baby is usually right after he or she eats or
wakes up from a nap. Fussy babies and photography do not mix, unless you are actually
going after that crying baby face.
Dressing Your Baby for Tinting Photograph
We do offer custom hand tinting for your photographs, it is a good idea to think about what
colors you would like to be in the photograph. Dress your baby in comfortable clothes that
have a hint of color. Or you can simply just have a diaper on her and add a small toy that we
can hand tint. It is best if the background is light. Lay your baby on a white or light colored
blanket. Please avoid dark colors.
Natural Lighting or Bright Lighting - Bright Sunlight
Use bright lighting or natural lighting works best. Make sure that the baby's face has no
shadows covering it.You want to show off his or hers beautiful face, not hide it with a shadow.
Use lighting from a window or use a flash along with other lamps or bright lights. Avoid
photographs taken in bright sunlight. The high contrast of the bright sun does not make a
good card. Avoid taking the picture with any back lighting, (i.e. placing the baby right in front of
the window) as your baby will be dark.
Take Photos up-close
Fill your frame with your baby. Don't leave too much room around her or him. Avoid having
other items in the photograph unless it is a small toy or item you would like us to be tinted.
Just make sure the small object is not by the baby's face. Don't forget to remove the pacifier
as it too will distract from that beautiful face and make sure the face is free of a ring that the
pacifier can make. When looking through the camera's view finder, look at the area around the
baby and make sure the blanket is the only thing in the background.
When taking you baby's photo, place your baby on a neutral color blanket with a solid
background. Place your baby's hands close to the baby's body and to the face make
sure you do not cover the baby’s face. |
Color Tinting the photo of your baby

Now is the time to think about colors
It is a good idea to think about what colors you would like to be tinted in the photograph.
Dress your baby in comfortable clothes that have a hint of color. Or you can simply just have a

Lay your baby on a white or light colored blanket. Avoid dark colors since they come out black.
