Photography Tips

Digital photos work best. For digital photos we recommend a 2 mega pixel camera or higher, set at the highest resolution possible. Save digital images in a large JPG or TIF format. We do accept “zipped” images if you need to reduce the size for emailing send on photo at a time if needed, please make sure to name each image with yours or your child's first and last name (example: StevenLuis Johnson1) send as many photo’s as you like we will pick the best image. Digital photos can be emailed or saved to disc for mailing. If you have developed your film to disc, email the largest, print quality image.Your image must be large. Do not mail a printed digital image resolution will be lost. Please do not crop your image. We will crop for best effect on your announcement or invite.

Using 35 mm Prints

For 35 mm prints, you can scan the photo yourself and save as a JPG or TIF file. The scanner needs to be set at the highest possible scan quality for example if your image is 4” x 6” scan your image at 300 to 400 dpi and save it as a jpg file. Very important: for the best scan be sure your scan surface and photos are lint and smudge free. Please do not crop your image. We will crop for best effect on your announcement or invite. Mailing your Print or Disc.

If you prefer, you can mail your 35 mm print or photo disc. Please print your full name and address on the photo or on the disk with your order number if available. Number your photos in order of preference. We cannot accept any photos produced from a printer or copier and no Polaroid photos. We will mail back your photos with your order.

Professional Photography

If you wish to use a professional photo you must submit a written release form with the photo. We cannot reproduce professional prints without written permission from the photographer or proof that negatives were purchased. Buying the prints does not release the image for reprinting. We cannot use the photos emailed to you from photographers. Those images are meant for email only not printing. Most photographers will release your image if they do not offer the same product, or will sell you the release of your image, it would be best to discuss this with them before you have the photos taken by them. Taking Baby Photo Tips

If we receive a blurry, grainy or dark photograph of your baby, then your announcement will be blurry, grainy, or dark. So here are some tips on how to take the best photograph of your child.

Take lots of pictures!

Sometimes you can take a whole roll of film to get one great photo. If that is what it takes then just do it. It will be worth the effort when you receive your baby’s birth announcement.

Best time to take the photo

The best time to take photographs of your new baby is usually right after he or she eats or wakes up from a nap. Fussy babies and photography do not mix, unless you are actually going after that crying baby face.

Dressing Your Baby for Tinting Photograph

We do offer custom hand tinting for your photographs, it is a good idea to think about what colors you would like to be in the photograph. Dress your baby in comfortable clothes that have a hint of color. Or you can simply just have a diaper on her and add a small toy that we can hand tint. It is best if the background is light. Lay your baby on a white or light colored blanket. Please avoid dark colors.

Natural Lighting or Bright Lighting - Bright Sunlight

Use bright lighting or natural lighting works best. Make sure that the baby's face has no shadows covering it.You want to show off his or hers beautiful face, not hide it with a shadow. Use lighting from a window or use a flash along with other lamps or bright lights. Avoid photographs taken in bright sunlight. The high contrast of the bright sun does not make a good card. Avoid taking the picture with any back lighting, (i.e. placing the baby right in front of the window) as your baby will be dark.

Take Photos up-close

Fill your frame with your baby. Don't leave too much room around her or him. Avoid having other items in the photograph unless it is a small toy or item you would like us to be tinted. Just make sure the small object is not by the baby's face. Don't forget to remove the pacifier as it too will distract from that beautiful face and make sure the face is free of a ring that the pacifier can make. When looking through the camera's view finder, look at the area around the baby and make sure the blanket is the only thing in the background.

When taking you baby's photo, place your baby on a neutral color blanket with a solid background. Place your baby's hands close to the baby's body and to the face make sure you do not cover the baby’s face.

Color Tinting the photo of your baby

Yes, we can color tint your color photograph. See how to submit a photograph above. All designs can have color tint added to it, just add an additional $15.00 to the order, you will find the add tint button on the order page. Click on the VIEW link and the color tinting page will appear, then select your tint in the area provide for tinting.

Now is the time to think about colors

It is a good idea to think about what colors you would like to be tinted in the photograph. Dress your baby in comfortable clothes that have a hint of color. Or you can simply just have a diaper on her and add a small toy that we can hand tint. It is best if the background is light. Lay your baby on a white or light colored blanket. Avoid dark colors since they come out black.
